Dust
rises from the hooves of cattle returning to the village at sunset.
Twilight, when the evening shadows begin to lengthen, is poetically
referred to as godhulilagna, literally meaning ‘cow dust
time.’ In the arid landscape of Kutch, villagers walk their
cattle, sheep and goats many miles each day in search of food
and water. Throughout India, twilight is considered an auspicious
time for new ventures, engagements and weddings.
