Paiute dancer at Snow Mountain Pow Wow

Moving to the beat of drums, a "fancy shawl" dancer glides and flits as gracefully as a butterfly in flight.

A pow wow is a gathering of Indian tribes joining together in dance, song and friendship. It is their way of celebrating and sharing their culture with each other and the population at large.

One of the native tribes of Nevada, the Paiute are prominent in local pow wows. This annual Pow Wow is located on the Snow Mountain Indian Reservation north of Las Vegas off Highway 95.
