Elvis Stormtrooper & Star Wars characters at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign

Each year thousands of tourists pose with the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign for the classic “I was there” photo.

Created in 1959 by Betty Willis and Ted Rogich, the sign still welcomes visitors arriving from the south on Las Vegas Boulevard.

It was built by Western Neon, and is currently owned by Young Electric Sign Company. As the Las Vegas Strip has expanded over the years, the sign has been moved south several times.

The sign is considered by many to mark the “official” southern end of the Strip. It is currently located in the center island of Las Vegas Boulevard just south of the Mandalay Bay.
